In some situations, you can make a frame out of wood or some similar material and fit the magnet into the frame. You can see this principle demonstrated if you look at a picture frame with a pane of glass in it. The magnet can fit into the groves in the frame in the same way that the glass does. This will hold it for as long as you need without the use of extra hardware. Since you will not have to put a hole in the magnet, you will not run the risk of breaking or cracking it during the installation process.
You should note that there are other ways to put in permanent magnets as well. Some people use glue or another type of adhesive, for instance. Your situation may call for a very unique solution. Make sure that you really consider everything that the magnets will be used for in the future so that you install them in a way that will allow them to work correctly.
